As above - bid on an item & I’m currently the highest bidder.

Not a massive amount (£22.00) however after placing the bid I realised that I already have the item so don’t want a second.

So how do I (or can I) withdraw the bid?

Ask the seller to cancel your bid.
If they are not able to comply, you can directly retract using the following form: https://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?RetractB...

I wish I was able to do this as some sellers set up multiple accounts to create a bidding war and massage the price upwards... this happened to me when bidding on a 330d Touring years ago... surprise surprise the other bidder cancelled, leaving me with a car that was overpriced. Went to see the car, told the seller I was not interested and got him to cancel the sale altogether tongue out

Out of interest, how did it become overpriced? Surely you stop when it is still adequately priced?

Even if you win, there’s not anything they can do to make you actually pay and complete the auction anyway. If you do it too much they can suspend your account, but not for once or twice

I have used this before when I needed to withdraw a bid. No need to contact the seller to get them to cancel it.

I don't understand this. How was it overpriced? Surely it would drop down to your own bid figure?

not if the shill bidder's high bid persuaded him to bid just that little bit more than he was intending (like no one else on earth ever does ...)

Then there's no room for complaint if you are still at an acceptable price?

Just get a friend interested in buying it and hope they bid higher than you.
