Wondering what the general consensus is as i was baffled to find friends of mine think it was strange i was having a female friend round for a cuppa while my partner wasent in.

As grown adults is this something thats still a bit strange? My partner knew about it its not like its a secret meeting, do most people think this is a big nono? Or is it just dependant.

Sometimes you just know a potentially interesting thread is going to deteriorate rapidly.

It isn’t strange, it is probably just unusual for your (presumably male) friends so they perceive it as strange.

Don’t worry about it.

Oh, and this thread needs pictures or something.

I have a female friend. I've known her since I was 19 when we were at Uni back in1982 and I go down and stay with her in Kent for the weekend every now and again for a good catch-up.

Mrs G has no issues and nor should she as it's a great life long friendship.

Guess it might seem strange to others, but that's their issue.

Isn't it estimated that in 50% of heterosexual platonic relationships one person wants to bang the other? And in the other 50% someone is lying? wink

I have a 2 really good / close female friends that used to be my “work wives” so to speak some 10+yrs ago.

We meet for lunch and dinner, we have nights out etc... when work diaries have allowed, we’ve stayed at the same hotels and done dinner and drinks etc... with both some have mistaken us for a couple. Once someone even thought our daughters were twins - in fairness they do look very similar and are almost the same age etc...

Some of my friends and colleagues think it’s odd - I don’t see the problem personally

I find men without female friends (not including the wife) a little 'unbalanced'.

I've known a few people who only had friends of the opposite gender and that's even weirder.

I favour the Mike Pence route and if I'm left alone with a female in a room I leave immediately. If that's not possible my videographer is summoned and a genital cuff fitted (to her).
