I live in Indonesia. At the start of every Ramadan poorer Muslims will steal whatever they can get their hands on. They are aiming to get enough money to return to their home town and/or show off by giving presents and providing food.Rest of the year where I live is pretty much crime free.
Embassies in Jakarta issue warnings, it's so bad.
Had a couple of burglaries here last year. Couple down the road caught one guy and gave him a bit of a kicking..passed on the local security who added to the kicking and then the Police. Quite funny but when they caught him after having to kick down their own bathroom door - he was praying loudly to allah.

At one place of employment the boss observed Ramadan. Chatting to him about it he found the first few days difficult but soon adapted, easier as his children are now adults. At the end of Ramadan he found getting back in to a breakfast/lunch/dinner routine a bit tricky, but again soon adapted. Occasionally it would be necessary to have lunch with customers for which he would seek an exemption from the fast for that meal. It got me thinking, apart from the young/elderly/ill/pregnant are there any other exemptions?

I think that's all of them. Technically you're supposed to do catch up fasts or, alternatively, you can pay something called Fidya (payment in lieu of fasting)Yep - first few days are the worst, and weekends are worse because you're not mentally as busy with work.
