Could be a decorative top for old cast iron drainpipes.

Maybe a drain downspout thing? just seems to be to much detail for it to be part of a chimney where nobody would see it.

Don't be too hasty, was it in the reformation that heads were knocked off statues of religious stuff? 15th or 16th century?

It's a piece of an ante-deluvian retro-thruster.
Not worth anything without the spoodle spigot and wangling throgger. frown

State of the art in its' day though.

Have you had any of the encrustation tested for deadly viruses?

OP it looks a bit like those odd decorative pieces maybe even a candle holder fitted to the walls of churches/ religious buildings.

Why not send some photos with scale to an auction house. They have identifying and valuation days. It might turn out to be unusual but not valuable in which case a museum might like it.

Is it a hopper head?

A sort of decorative funnel at the top of a rain water pipe to collect one or more pipes/gutters to guide the water into the down pipe.

Might be worth a bit. Try one of those architectural salvage places. He will suck his teeth, shake his head and say "nah! I tell you what, I'll take it off your hands for a fiver".

You have found the “Harrison lesser spout”
Quickly, take it to Sotherby’s In a Relian three wheeler and put it up for auction.
This time tomorrow you could be a millionaire!
