Why do men’s clothing sizings assume that anyone with a bit of a beer gut is also 6ft 5? I’m a Bit portly without being huge, but 5ft 11 (Not giant but not tiny either). Top half clothing that fits are the middle is too long, and if it’s the right length it’s too tight. I don’t really just want to get all ‘fat guy’ clothes from jacamo. Ideas please?

Same the other way round bro. I'm 6'5" and everything larger assumes I'm a fat . Sometimes I just need a longer length but ends up like a tent.

Still we are all PH'ers so our clothes are custom made to our powerfully built frames by virgins so nothing to worry about.

Same for me. 5'11" and 33" waist. Medium t-shirts are just about okay but then if I raise my arms it raises well above my belly button.

I have to go for a large but then they are really baggy!

annoyingly I do find the occasional item of clothing that first perfectly... but i literally have to try on like 50 things in order to find it, and even if i buy them they don't last forever (or stay not looking dated). I don't really want to spend that much time shopping... Even more annoying in a way as I know things are out there.

I have found Fred Perry polo shirts fit well without having 2 feet of spare cloth hanging round your ankles. For shirts I use Ted Baker again I find they fit well either tucked or untucked.

Anyone with a body shape out of the ordinary has two options really for decent fitting clothes....

Get stuff made to fit. This doesn’t have to be mega expensive these days. There are companies online that make things to your own measurements from say £50 a shirt etc.

The second one is simple.... lose weight

Go for a run?

If you genuinely can't get clothes that fit you properly, you should probably do something about that.

Pretty much this.. if you’re too fat for standard sizes, it’s Jacamo/lose weight/made to measure/wear tight clothes.

Option 1 sounds interesting - any particular companies you would recommend.

However on option 2 i had no idea i could lose weight. Thanks.

I have the opposite problem. I'm pretty much slap bang in the middle of the healthy BMI range for my height (six foot and 11 stone) but I have to choose between T-shirts which don't cover my waste once they've been washed a couple of times or ones which resemble a tent on me.

I am 16st, so whilst overweight, I am hardly the fattest bd in the world. If all manner of sizes and shapes of women are now catered for and supposedly accepted, the point I am making is that it seems a bit unfair that men's clothing has not moved on at all.

why though? With the sheer number of fat s (and far fatter s than me) out there I struggle to see why the only option is ste looking clothes.

and besides it isn't even that i am 'crying my eyes out' over being too fat for clothes - if you'd actually fking read the first post - i am saying i can get clothes to fit my girth based upon STANDARD sizes, but at that point then they are often too long. The real problem is just make the items a bit shorter... my issue is that despite being average i am effectively being told i am too short.

To be fair, you are, at least by the NHS's definition, obese. Whilst obviously it should be possible to buy clothes that fit, it doesn't seem unreasonable to have to shop in places which explicitly provide for overweight people.

Most women with that sort of BMI will be shopping in explicit "plus size" ranges if they want things to fit properly.

So the problem is you're too short.
