Nothing wrong with "Toilets" but maybe, and this is speculation, having the sign specifically saying "all gender toilets" will mean that people are not left confused if they see someone walking out. Avoids that "oh, have I walked into the ladies by mistake?" scenario that happens occasionally?

I've used toilets in hospitals that are just marked "Toilet", seen a woman (or trans?) exit and never thought, "That's the ladies."

Probably the result of a new appointment to the trust role in equality and diversity. They’ll have undertaken an EQIA and flagged that all persons regardless of all protected and unprotected characteristics are impacted equally and rather than take the logical approach of a “toilet” sign, and to avoid all potential confusion, went for a totally inclusive sign instead.

Waste of taxpayer money imho (and that’s from a [albeit interim] trust exec)

The money would be better spent on keeping the places clean rather than signs,
I couldn’t believe how bad the condition of the toilets were last time I was at a Hospital.

As a percentage, how many people in the UK population identify as anything other than male or female do we think?

I'm guessing a very small percentage, yet another way to spunk tax payer money up the wall, literally.

Yep - unisex toilets are standard on aircraft/ trains etc. No one bats an eyelid.

Well unless this is a brand new NHS facility (I'm presuming it's not?) then they have spent money on making a new sign and putting it up, which probably took a team of 10 people six months to agree on the design of, when there was more than likely a sign there before that read 'Toilets' that was perfectly acceptable to everyone, and everyone just got on with their lives.

I get the idea of Unisex toilets used to save money, although I don't agree with the principle, but that's another debate!

My wife gets annoyed when I don’t put the seat down - but she wouldn’t insist on a separate toilet.

I don't like the idea of strange men in the same space as my missus / daughter / mum / female friends / any females for that matter. Personally I think unisex toilets just add to the opportunity for weirdos to be weird and make women and children (and other men in some cases) feel uncomfortable.

Nothing wrong with separate toilets for men and women in my opinion, and if your gender is not clear, then just pick one and use that toilet.
