Years ago (children), all Kit Kats came in crisp silver foil wrapped in a red paper wrapper.

A few years back, the four finger bars started being encased in nasty generic plastic wrapper thing, but it was okay, the natural order of things could be restored by buying two finger bars, which were packaged properly.

I noticed today that the silver foil is gone even for two finger bars.

In the future, when historians are looking for the actual point that society began to descend into chaos, this will be it.

I know what you are saying, but disagree. The truth is the rot started in the '90's and got beyond the point of reversal on 8th January 2010.

The rest is just the fall out and final stagger into the abyss where you will only find anything that resembles chocolate in a few smaller brands.

And Burton's Wagon Wheels are half the size they used to be in 1969 (When they were branded "Westons")

I blame Corbyn.

How environmentally friendly of them!

Actually I noticed that the foil ones definitely don't last as long.

The only Kit Kats worth buying are the dark chocolate ones these days anyway. The regular ones have been ruined and are tasteless!

And good riddance to excess, annoying packaging.

You could never open a Kit-Kat without tearing the foil which meant that despite your careful, obsessive-compulsive method of opening the foil to form a perfect rectangle, there would always be a chunk missing from the edge ruining it.

It also made opening the package 10 time longer than it needed to be, meaning your tasty chocolate had started to melt before even touching it. I've been favouring the Kit-Kat Chunky or the generic supermarket variety for ages now because of this.

If you want a true confectionery travesty, why the hell doesn't Tesco stock Caramel Crowns?

They haven’t been the same since they swapped the lead foil wrapping for aluminium.

And bloody Mars Bars are minscule these days too. I bought one the other day. I wish I hadn't bothered. two chomps and the bloody thing was gone. 'When I were a lad...' the damn things were twice the size they are now. And they had proper wrapping on them too.

As for the silver paper on Kit Kats, surely those moaning about that miss the point? The whole point of the silver paper was so that youthful fingernails could slide down each segment thus neatly slicing the silver paper into segments whilst retaining it as one whole sheet. Hours and hours and hours of fun that was.

Cheers

The beginning of the end was when they phased out Spangles in the early 80s. I used to really like the Old English.

Had a Curly Wurly at work the other day. WTF! happened to that. Half the size and a clean bite when I chomped it.

You used be be able to get a mate to pull it halfway across the playground yet tendrils of toffee would still be attached to your gob.

I may have exaggerated a little there.

On the plus side, at least you can now get some of the cool and unusual kit kat flavours and variations that were previously only available overseas.
