Help please!

I ordered a high value item from Amazon costing £1800. Because of the value of the item it said on their site that it needed a signature upon delivery.

I wasn’t in when it was delivered, and the right thing for the delivery man to have done was to take the item back to the depot and then try delivery it again.

Instead the idiot left it in my bin, and then left a 'Sorry we missed you note' to tell me it was in my bin.

Unfortunately, my bin got emptied the next morning. When I got in, I saw the note, went to the bin and it was empty.

Contacted Amazon and they’re saying because the item was delivered to the right address, they’re not going to refund or replace the item.

How the hell can they expect me to be out of pocket in the tune of £1800 when the mistake wasn’t my faulty? I’m not denying the item was delivered to the right address. It was, but it shouldn’t have been left without a signature, let alone put in the bin.

Luckily, I bought the item using my Credit card, and have informed them. I just wanted to know if I can escalate this issue without going through the Indian based customer service that seems to be all telling me the same bull?

Where was the bin?

Anyway, if you've contacted your credit card company aren't you just going to confuse things if you still enage with Amazon?

Contact your credit card company and they'll claw the money back for you. Most will insure the goods or side with you in a dispute. You ordered it by mail to be delivered to you. If the delivery driver put it in your rubbish bin, then Amazon can take it up with their delivery company.

He had to engage the Amazon first. Even if they aren’t helpful. Could try phoning at different times though?

CC ultimately will refund, one would assume?

And this belongs in the Lounge (or other two sub forums), nothing to do with cars.

Hi,

I wanted to know if they refund me without going to my credit card first. I live on a busy road, and the bins are in front of my house.

“Delivery problems - your rights

Regardless of any issues which may be the fault of the courier, it's the retailer’s responsibility to ensure the fulfilment of your order.
The Consumer Rights Act, says the retailer is responsible for the condition of the goods until the goods are delivered to you, or someone else you have nominated to receive them on your behalf, such as a neighbour.
But, if you nominated a safe place, this will be interpreted as the parcel having being delivered to you”

So, legally the parcel has not been delivered. Point this out to them, and point them to the law. If they still don’t play ball then go for a recharge.

Email from Amazon saying I should go to the police.

Hello,

We’re sorry to hear that you haven’t received your item for order

We have fully investigated this matter, including with the delivery carrier who delivered the package. Based on the outcome of our investigations, we believe the package was delivered to the correct address. In particular we have considered information from our records, as follows which indicate the item as delivered:

- the timed geocode stamp of the delivery location;
- information collected at the point of delivery; and
- the package weight and reported condition upon delivery.

Accordingly, based on our investigations, we won’t be able to provide a replacement or refund for this order at this time.

If you think that someone has intercepted your item without your permission, this is a crime, and you may wish to contact your local police authorities to pursue this matter further. To assist, we recommend that you provide a copy of this email to the police to help explain what has happened. We will happily cooperate with the police as part of any investigation.

If the issue isn't resolved after contacting local police, please contact us again and include a copy of the police report, crime reference number and details of the station where the incident was reported. Please note: to assist in obtaining a police report, we recommend that you provide a copy of this email to the police to help explain what has happened. We will then validate the report with the local police force in question; for that reason, we are unable to accept reports filed with Action Fraud, as this is a reporting centre, rather than a local police force.

Please forward a PDF, JPG or PNG copy of the police report to the following address: uk-deliveryinvestigation@amazon.co.uk. Please be sure to include key information including:

- Name/Rank of the officer
- Name of police station
- Phone Number of police station
- Crime Reference Number

As the outcome of our detailed investigation suggests that the item was delivered, unfortunately without any such police report reporting the crime of theft or interception of the item, we are unable to take further action.

Thank you for your understanding.

Some so called “couriers” wouldn’t knock on a door anyway. Already filled out a delivery card, chucks parcel wherever they see fit. Clowns.

You never signed for it so you never had it, it's their problem.

You are in for the long haul sorting this.

Then again, if i was expecting a high value item to be delivered, i would be waiting in all day for it, exactly for this reason.

Good luck.

As pointed out above its down to Amazon to deal with, they provide the courier and providing you didn't ask for it to be left in a safe place or agree for it to be delivered unsigned or without your specific signature then its down to them to take up with the courier - who won't care.

Call them and ask to be escalated to a manager. If that doesn't work email jeff@amazon.com with the details of what happened and what you would like to happen next.

Never had any issues with them until earlier this year. I ordered a laptop (only a cheap one) and spent the entire day at home waiting for it when I could have gone out. I was frequently tracking the parcel on their website and by lunchtime it was showing as "handed to resident".

This was total bks as there wasn't a single knock on the door and nothing had been handed to me. I phoned up their customer services department and after being put on hold for ages, my call was finally answered. Quite why the woman on the other end was given a job that involves communicating with people in English I will never know. All she kept doing was telling me that it says "handed to resident", totally ignoring the fact that I hadn't received the parcel. I asked her to pass the phone over to someone else but she couldn't even understand that.

I phoned up again later that day and thankfully got put onto someone with a basic grasp of the English language. They told me to check around the property and inside bins. I told them I'd checked all around the property and asked why on earth would it be left in a bin?

Eventually, they agreed to open an investigation, but said this would take up to 24 hours. This was frustrating given that I hadn't gone out all day and was paying extra for Prime in order to get next-day delivery, but nonetheless I agreed as it seemed like the only way forward.

48 hours later and not a peep, so I phoned them up and gave them my reference number, and was told the investigation hadn't been opened yet. The lady on the phone apologised and said she would open the investigation and that it would take up to another 24 hours.

Two days later, and I had still heard nothing, despite being promised that I would receive an email regarding the investigation. I phoned them up yet again, only to be told the investigation had been closed as their records say the parcel was "handed to resident" totally ignoring the fact that the investigation was only opened in the first place because of that incorrect statement.

I took to copying and pasting the same lengthy rant on loads of their Facebook posts, and got a response from someone who runs their Facebook account who took my details and escalated the issue. By the end of the day I received a full refund, but I wasted so much time and energy chasing it up. I cancelled Prime on the basis that the company is a shower of st, although my experience suggests that the best way of contacting them is via Facebook, as their call centres are absolute fking ste.
