Do Two wrongs make a right?
Discussion
I’ve just travelled down from Newcastle to London on the train. Normally travelling first class allows some degree of a quieter atmosphere to allow you to get some work done.
However this time there was a couple of women sat behind me and one of them talked constantly (and I mean constantly) in a very loud voice.
Looking at the glances of everyone it was clear that she was verbally intruding on everyone’s journey.
I sat there with typical British repressed annoyance. Daring myself to say something. I’m sure it would have been terribly rude to do so but it may have given her some sense of self awareness. Maybe she could have at least stopped shouting.
But I didn’t. What would you have done?

I out-Britished you by a country mile on my commute when similar happened and my headphones chose that morning to pack in.
I was using my phone as a hotspot for my laptop so I changed the hotspot name to phrases with varying degrees of passive-aggressiveness - "I'll pay for someones headphones", etc.
At one point they were struggling to work out which version of effect/affect to use in the phrase "the effect that this will have..." - yes, this is the level of human we're dealing with - so naturally the hotspot became "IT IS f
kING EFFECT".
What you (and I) could / should have done is have a quiet word, but then we wouldn't want to make a scene would we?!

In my fantasy I would have stood up and asked her (in an equally loud voice) “Excuse me, are you by any chance travelling on the next Eurostar to Brussels?”
To her negative reply I would said “Oh thank the Lord”.
Much hilarity would have ensued and I would have been acclaimed as the people champion and arbiter of good taste.
