Woman in local shop with a really bad black eye
Discussion
Feel like i should be on mumsnet with this one lol, but it was just plain odd? And i wondered what would run through 'your' mind? You walk into a local shop you frequent often and the lady serving, who is a really nice amiable type is standing with sunglasses on and a horrendous black eye!!
I wasn't going to say anything at all, but while she was going to fetch what i needed she felt she had to come right out and say, sorry about the sunglasses, i fell off a ladder? She then takes glasses off to show me and it was a cracker, no cuts or any other injuries visible.
I just let it go and never said a thing at all, but in the back of my head i'm thinking yeah right, somebody, your husband or whoever has given you a smack!
Strange how i instantly doubted her as i thought it was highly unusual to fall off a ladder and fall eye first towards something, your hands would go up to protect yourself, no?
I'm wondering what you would think? Apart from nothing, none of our business ofcourse, and can't i find anything more interesting to post about! :-)

My mum had an operation on her nose a couple of years ago, something to do with sinuses. Left her with a huge shiner.
My dad said every time they were out in the aftermath he got looks like you wouldn’t believe off members of the public, despite the cause being totally innocent.
Just a reminder it may not always be what it seems.

My wife had had several black eyes given to her by our dogs.
One smacked her in the eye when giving paw, the other head butted her when saying hello.
Same one gave her another when also giving paw but managed to slice the inside of her eye lid..
Yes I got plenty of dodgy looks when out with her.

I recently joined a new work place, upon meeting HR I was greeted by a woman with a massive shiner.
She seemed fine and chatty and nothing was said about it by her or I.
I worried she was getting beaten.
A month goes by, she still has it, now I'm more worried she is getting beaten often and no one has done anything so I ask one of my team if it's a regular thing.
They reply yes, really regular, in fact since birth.
It's a birthmark.
I felt like a d
head!!

I felt like a d
head!! Last year my wife got up in the middle of the night having felt unwell and promptly walked into the wall, injuring her nose. She then went to the bathroom and sat on the toilet; I got up to see if she was okay, she then fell off the toilet having momentarily lost consciousness, and again injured her face as she hit the nearby sink. I was absolutely beside myself, thinking she was seriously ill as she kept drifting in and out of consciousness, so called an ambulance. The paramedics were great, and took her to hospital as her heart rate was so low. I remember the junior doctor asking us questions about the sequence of events; I think he said something like, "so you just left her...?", and then quickly corrected himself and rephrased the question.
My wife went to work later in the week (where I occasionally work) with some bruises and there were a few jokes, but I hope that nobody that knew me would seriously think that I was a wife beater, or more to the point, that my wife would take it!!

And that's what really happened, your honour. My wife went to work later in the week (where I occasionally work) with some bruises and there were a few jokes, but I hope that nobody that knew me would seriously think that I was a wife beater, or more to the point, that my wife would take it!!
My wife fell over indoors cracking her head and face on a quarry tiled step, no cuts but a hell of a lot of black and blue covering face. We went shopping and lady at till came straight out with it in front of me, ‘did your husband do that to you’ she asked!!! This is about fifteen years back but I have never forgotten her words and her tone of voice.
