I love it, the anticipation, the flavour, social lubrication, relaxing. I hate being drunk though, too relaxed, when you're aware that speach is slurred, and thought process is impaired.

No matter how much pleasure you derive from it, there'll be one of the 'new puritans' along, in a minute, to chastise you!
Move to Spain, you can, officially, enjoy it a lot more there! drink

Not any more.

Not against anyone else doing so, though.

Those people are just ex alcoholics.

I enjoy a good drink but ever so often, I go through periods when I’m at the priory not drinking much because I’m training for something, and it’s amazing the response I get from people that are having a drink.

“What aren’t you drinking”
“Did you used to be an alcoholic”
“Do you just not drink”
“I don’t trust people that don’t drink”

Beer, one or two then I get bloated and need the toilet.
Gin is nice for a few.
Fruit cider I can have a few.

I'm not a massive drinker. Maybe once every month i'll have < 5 drinks.
I could definitely not drink ever again.

That's the one that puzzles me.

I drink a little but never when I go out as I am usually driving. But in broad terms I say I don't drink as it's a glass of wine once a month which I then regret as my body doesn't seem to tolerate alcohol well.

I don't care if others drink and I used to enjoy a drink - Tanqueray lovely stuff.

A little too much possibly. Since marriage, kids etc. the weekend binges are a distant thing but I now look forward to the sun being past the yard arm on a Saturday evening (afternoon) and having that first cold beer or G&T. That usually gets followed by a few more pre-dinner drinks, bottle of red shared with the missus whilst eating and then another beer or so after. Thing is now if I get tempted and have a few too many I just massively regret it the next day and think to myself that I really ought to knock on the head altogether as I don't have any control. I do also have some concerns about doing long term damage to myself.

The other regulator for me was getting into running and I now do Parkrun on a Saturday morning (9am) so usually only have a couple on a Friday night.

Having home brewing as a bit of a hobby doesn't really help matters as I have a pretty much endless supply of beer available biggrin

Spiked at 17, found lying in a subway and left for dead by a "friend" ... ambulance called, nearly died

I was T-Total for about 6yrs after that.

I started again with no conscious effort - I dont like the taste of alcohol though so not a fan of most spirits unless with strong mixers and cant handle the liquid volumes of lager/beer due to a pre-existing medical complaint. I despise almost all wine unless its cheap and fizzy.

I drink some of the newer flavoured gins with poncey tonics, some ciders are ok in small volumes.

I will revert back to T-Total at some point, probably subconsciously.

Bit early for me, however my tastes have changed and now into craft Gin (like most people it seems!) - but not the sugary/syrup flavoured ones.
Also enjoy small batch ales and lagers, but the sugar is a beast being T1 diabetic and I'm pretty sure there is no need. I've gotten to know what beers and lagers are 'safe' options for me. However I am cancelling my subs to beer52 for this reason.
I don't go out to get pissed like I used to either. I'd stop and have a juice or pepsi max mid sesh and drink water with a meal even with wine.
It f'ing expensive too. Out at a local pub with Mrs bonerp at the weekend and a large rose and Peroni was over £12!!!!!!!!!!

Give this stuff a go one of the nicest non alcohol beers I’ve tried it really does taste like the proper stuff.

Yes me too. I dabbled with Vodka and diet coke (aka skinny bh) without it spiking my blood sugar but it is just for the alcohol and it was too easy to drink too much without noticing so just stopped. I'm better for it (lost lots of weight) but don't have a problem at all with others drinking.

This is reasonable, not as good as the real thing but not bad and quite refreshing. It took me a few goes to get the taste for it though.

It's spelled teetotal. It originated with a man named Turner, a member of the Preston Temperance Society, who, having an impediment of speech, in addressing a meeting remarked, that partial abstinence from intoxicating liquors would not do; they must insist upon tee-tee-(stammering) tee total abstinence.
Strange how we pronounce it differently to what he would have, but more like you've spelled it.

I enjoy it, but feel i'm part of a dying breed.

Getting accidentally drunk on a Sunday afternoon in the summer, sat in the garden with a book and some music whilst food cooks on the BBQ.

Saturday afternoons watching the football with a couple of pints, then going to the pub for the 5:30 kick off, getting merry and home for Match of the Day.

Getting absolutely hammered with your best mates that you don't see very often, laughing about nothing in particular and feeling like you're all 18 again.

Drinking a nice glass of wine that's perfectly paired to dinner at a nice restaurant.

Aperol during Aperitivo at Navigli in Milan

Mojito on the balcony during a thunderstorm. Reading Hemingway and pretending to be in Cuba in the 50's.

Couple of Heineken at the start of a long haul flight, drift off to sleep watching a crap movie

Going for a long dog walk and enjoying a pint of bitter at the end of it

Taking my dad to the pub for a chat over a pint or two with the dogs

Friday afternoons in the pub after a long week at work, laughing and drinking the weeks' stress away

All of these are things you can't do if you don't drink. All of these are things I enjoy doing. Therefore, I drink.
Sometimes too much, sometimes not enough. But I sure as hell wouldn't be without it.
