Just wondering what time other people's kids wake up in the morning? Mine's 2-1/2 and he's been waking up between 5:30 and 6 lately. 6 I can cope with but 5:30 is a bit on the early side. He's normally in bed for 7 in the evening and can take him anything between 10 mins and an hour to get off to sleep.

Mine is 4 and goes to bed at 7 (asleep within 20 minutes) and is 99% of the time awake at about quarter past 5 rolleyes We got a gro clock so he knows not to get up until it turns yellow but he still wakes up early.

My 18 month old tends to fall asleep around 7.30-8pm then is usually up between 7.30 and 8am.

Amazingly for me I have the day off and he didn't wake till 9am!

Still usually wakes once during the night though.

6am on the dot. Every day. For a couple months it went up to 4:30am but then settled back. Horrible. As I’m a night owl.

Can I hijack this thread to collect data for theory of mine?

I believe that babies wake up the same time that mum did when they were in the womb (providing mum has a consistent routine)

Those of you who post the baby wake time can you also say whether your partner had a consistent wake time during pregnancy and what it was?

Child 1 (now 9) was always an early riser and pretty much exactly the same as his mum. Child 2 (8 today) is like me, late to bed and late to rise we have to wake her some mornings.

Mine did 7 -7 lovely in the cot, he outgrew the cot though and it's since we moved him into a bed that he's started getting up earlier and doesn't settle to sleep quite as easily. I assume it's because he knows he can get out of the bed himself now.

Wait until he's 20 and "arises" at 12 or later. You'll be glad of 5:30!

3 y/o, asleep by 8pm, wakes around 5:15. We’ve tried earlier & later bedtimes, reducing naps, earlier and later meal times. Likes it that he ‘wins’ against the gro clock laugh
4 y/o would happily sleep past 6 if she wasn’t woken by her brother.

I think they start "late mornings" a lot younger than that!

But that's not important right now....

My son is 3 1/2 and his sleep varies on a daily basis, we usually put him to bed between 7/8 sometimes a little later depending on if we are out. He’s up usually once a night and then he’s creeping into our room from 6, but as the mornings are pretty light this has been getting earlier on some mornings.

Also we’ve just got back from a 2 week break and now he’s getting reluctant and tends to get upset bed as we are putting him to bed, he was fine before we went, no idea what’s changed?!

Our "normal" wake up time has always been 0600, little'un wakes up at around half 5 so pretty close.

Hijack away, any theory that can help get mine to sleep through till a consistent 6 would be great!

My lads a little over 2, and has been very good sleeping, however recently its been getting closer to 5 in the morning when he wakes up, rather than the 6 that it used to be. 4:54 this morning was not fun frown He goes to bed around 7:30, however later or earlier doesn't make any difference. Hes still napping after lunch, and will happily go down for 3 hours if we let him!

My boy is 3. Now he's doing daytime nursery school, he gets pretty tired by 5pm. He tends to go to bed about 7 or 8 but later if he's had a nap in the car. He normally wakes up about 7am and comes into our bed for a snooze before getting up maybe 7:30 ish.

They are hugely driven by natural cues at that age - so daylight and even the chirping of the birds can wake them up. Blackout blinds and a trained falcon out in the garden are the answer!

We've got the blackout blinds, I have been wondering if it's slight noises bringing him out of sleep slightly early like birds chirping...I've thought about a white noise speaker to cancel it out.

My daughter is 3 (nearly 4) and does 5am every day, absolutely refuses to go back to bed.

We're just in the process of moving her room from the front to the back of the house, bit quiter, bit darker, just see how it goes!
