I’m thinking of moving from cartridge wet razors to using an old style safety razor ....

Interested in how popular that is - and any thoughts and recommendations smile

There’s a big thread on safety razors but it’s called the opposite of what you’d expect. And I can’t remember what it is at the minute.

If you fancy trying a safety razor, buy a Wilkinson Sword Classic from Boots or online for less than a fiver and give it a go. If you like it, buy a selection pack of blades and see which one suits you.

I did that, then bought a nice Merkur razor for £30, and 200 of my favourite blades for £6. 5 shaves per blade. One shave per week. Think that’s me sorted for the rest of my life. Haha.

Worth considering how you shave? I shower in the mornings, about 25 years ago I decided to cut a step out of the morning routine and started shaving in the shower by braille. Much, much closer shave and razor burn never happens. Oil based shaving creams (like your granddad's Palmolive) help with the smoothness.

Pretty much always used a Philips electric. My skin has never been the greatest and any sort of wet shaving has usually led to blood and sore skin.

Try King of Shaves gel - I have fairly delicate skin and this stuff is the dangly bits off the dog.

I've tried most of the options here, but am back to Gilette Fusion, or whatever they are called.

If you use any of the multi-blade razors with this;

...and a decent badger brush you'll be fine.

There is a long thread on this. Don't be fooled by the title.
