Clean your teeth?
Listening to the radio a couple of days ago and some guy rings in saying his wife is strange, his reason for this is when she cleans her teeth she puts the toothpaste on a dry brush and then straight into her mouth,no running the brush under the tap or rinsing her mouth first.

I have always cleaned my teeth the same way as the wife of the guy cleans hers, anyone else the same or are you all mouth rinsers/runing brush under tap first?

Wet the brush, put on the toothpaste, run water over the top of the toothpaste, then brush. The top and the bottom of the toothpaste have to come into contact with water to activate various stuff in the paste. So says my hygienist.

I do the same, some strange ones here! Wouldn't even cross my mind to brush in the shower!?

I’ve recently gone electric after a visit to a new hygienist. Very odd to learn a whole new routine, including flossing and interdental cleaning!

On the toothpaste ads it would appear that the thing to do is just the front two, up and down only, with a big stupid forced smile.

What's odd about seeing a dental hygienist?

Retired dentist.

Dry brush, apply about a pea sized amount of paste by forcing it into the bristles as much as possible, so it doesn’t come off in a big lump when you start brushing.
Start in a different quadrant regularly to even out wear.
Spit, no rinsing.

Concerning that a hygienist isn’t giving the same advice.

Agree with the above but whatever you do don't get your brushes mixed up in the same way as you do the sink and the toilet after a night on the booze.

Anyway what happened to the practise of using coal to clean them?

Bah, thought this was going to be a scrunch or fold question.

Back to OP.

Paste on dry brush.
Wet brush (as per washing hands, the moisture lavas the paste more so a pea sized amount spreads more effectively - not that I've a huge gob but anyway).
Spit.
Wash lava from lips.
