Long term Costco member, go periodically for some key things, and pick up other unwanted trash along the way!! I thought it interesting to see what people consider to be some of the gems of Costco!

Microfibre cloths...….used to be (10 years ago) dirt cheap, more pricey now but very good.
Kirkland Golden Margarita mix...…...just awesome with crushed ice.
San Pellagrino soft drinks
The big Swimming Pools!

Anything else anyone recommend as a must have?

IMO their own brand (Kirkland) Bordeaux is brilliant for the money.

Their cakes are really good value for things like kids' birthdays too.

The cling film and heavy duty tin-foil pays the membership fee by themselves.

£26 for both. They last us 2-3 years, and absolutely carp all over the supermarket stuff.

Massive steaks.
I will second the yellow microfibre towels, although I need some more and there's been none in stock for the last couple of (monthly) visits.
French butter ( http://www.isigny-ste-mere.com/en/ )
large raw frozen prawns (varous sizes too)
case of 500ml bottle water for £2-something
Igloo coolboxes (seasonal)
Childrens books selection is good for Christmas presents.
Head & Shoulders shampoo 1 litre bottle with pump dispenser so you use less than just randomly squirting it from a normal bottle.
Marmite in a big tub

Things I won't buy again:

Pizza from the chilled ready meal section that is too large to fit in my fridge.
Skippy brand Peanut Butter - massive amount of sugar in it so it tastes sickly sweet. vomit

The Wagyu Burgers are amazing.

Must buy some of the polishing cloths you all speak so highly of!

Normal purchases are:
- Toilet roll
- Paper towels
- Huge steaks
- Pizza
- Readymade enchiladas

We have got the food there for both our children's christening, was excellent.

Also got tyres the other week, loads cheaper than anywhere else!

Absolutely. The kitchen foil is immense. I've driven cars made from lesser quality metal!

I bloody love Costco. From the hot dogs to most of the things people have said, it's all great. I genuinely get excited to go to Costco.

I bought a trolley jack from there a while ago. Good quality, and much nicer to use than a Halfords pro one I've used lots. Prestone screenwash is good too, the yellow MF cloths are something from the gods, as are tyres.

I'm a big fan of the frozen ready done foods. There's good pasta ones, in a nice sauce, and things like Yaki Soba.

The fuel (where available) is fab too. Good quality, reasonable prices.

got a set of these solar lights for £15 (ish).
I also got two sets as I had a tenner voucher for signing up burning a hole in my pocket, and a pitch black garden. We love them.

20 litre tubs of Chevron 5w30 fully synthetic. 30-something quid?

(Shame about all the fat orange people in SUVs who populate the place though...)

Agree on the microfibre clothes, superb stuff.
The pizzas are lovely, same with the lasagnas, chicken and mince. Buy, split into smaller portions and freeze to be used when needed.

Will be using them for tyres for the gf’s Polo before winter for all season ones.
The Glasgow fuel station is brilliant, their premium diesel saves me £17 a tank over local BP and ultimate diesel.

Chevron synthetic oil - 20L for £40.
Mobil 1 0W-30 for £30.
Hardwood cabinet with green baize-lined drawers, sold as a tool chest that I use for my Heuer stopwatches. Bargain at 40.
Part cooked ciabattas - 5x2 for £2:70 (I buy two outers at a time, so 60 pieces).
Cotton and lycra pants for work: £4 per pair.
White thick American tshirts: £3 each.
Petrol & diesel at less than market prices and higher (was way higher) quality than supermarket fuel.
Pastry selection: 12 for £4.
Hybrid alloy and steel low entry jack: £80.

We bought a roll of the thick tin foil in 2006. I said at the time it would last us about 13 years... it’s not finished yet *

  • we do only use it to line the grill pan though smile

They havent been too keen on televisions for a while. I snagged a reasonable 65" Sony for Hisense money a couple of months ago though and they recently had a Sharp 65" for £500 delivered, which is pretty good also as its a Hisense rather than a generic Vestel inside. I was tempted to buy one as a bedroom television, but dithered until the deadline passed...

You will always buy something ace but unnecessary at Costco.
