Dog got run over - not even ours but hurts like hell

Been looking after a dog. He comes to stay every now and then - owners are on holiday. Lovely little mutt, well behaved. Last night, out for a walk and he decides to bolt and run back home - we're a mile away and requires crossing a quiet road - which it was but for one solitary car which collected the poor thing up. And that was that.

He's not ours but we're all wandering around in a daze like we've lost a family member.

I don't think it matters whether he was yours or not if he was in your charge - you'll of course feel absolutely awful.

Just horrible for the owners. Christ.
