On a trip to Finland for this year's holiday and have come across a few things I think that the Fins do better than the UK, that we should at least have the option of adopting here.

A simple above sink dish drainer, absolute genius:

And a shower for your nether regions, especially useful after a particularly heavy night on the Guinness:

Have you any other examples of things other countries seem to do better than the UK?

Is that a toilet wedged up against the wall?

I guess we do bathrooms better in Blighty (and cleaner too!)

Stubby holders for keeping your can/bottle cool and your hands dry.

I've no idea why these aren't common here. We brought a bunch of them from Australia and use them all the time. drink

Right turn on red lights in the US. Obviously we'd have to adapt that slightly for the UK.

Talking of toilets, the German toilet where you get to examine your handiwork before flushing. Always like to look back and be impressed.

Should really start an instagram page...

Good idea in principle, however over here it would fry too many brains, same with being allowed to pass on the nearside on a motorway as opposed to keeping left; which very few actually do.

Does it have some kind of blower to blow the waste water towards the sink? Is the washing up liquid kept on the sink with velcro? Sink top magnetic?

In the UK we would put the sink 90° to that, I feel our system is better.

Bumhole jetwash is also a feature of Thai toilets. It's great.

Good name for a band too.

Whilst the UK does many things better than other Countries, there are several things that are 'better' abroad, such as:

Free University/College tuition; several Countries in Europe. However the UK has better Universities overall apart from the USA, which leads in this regard but is also very expensive.
Denmark provides free child care.
Finland has arguably a better education system.
Food generally is better in many other countries. Yes, subjective, but for me personally, the UK is hardly a culinary powerhouse. Generally very average.
Germany is a better industrial nation - albeit the UK isn't shabby itself.
Tourists...while every country's tourists behave differently, British tourists are amongst the worst sadly. In the countries Brits visit the most, they have entire towns that are 'no-go' zones for anyone wanting to avoid rowdy, uncouth and generally unpleasant British tourists who binge-drink and lose control.
Weather...the UK sucks at it. biggrin

Lol, did try to get this in the UK when we were doing an extension a couple of years ago, but neither version was easily available.

The drainer cupboard is a great idea but not very well executed in that example. The right hand door would piss me off as I was washing up. It should have one big door that is hinged on the left.

Traffic lights on less busy roads that change to flashing amber overnight, so you can keep going if nothing is coming the other way. Those are good.

USA does flash better than us. THeme parks, customised cars, and so on.

No matter how good Chesington might be it's not Disney.
