Mum has been digging through her old boxes and found this piece from her Grandad - I've been googling but cant find out what this is - it looks like a medal but no clasps, so assume some kind of token?

The Latin is the Royal Air Force and commonwealth members air forces emblem meaning
Adversity to the stars or something like that.

It may be a sporting medal or it could be a medal given as a member of the Royal Air Force.

Very similar to RAF Royal Tournament planchettes from 1924.

'Through difficulty to the stars'
