Help with car warranty / returning used car
Discussion
A couple of weeks ago I paid 17.5k in cash for a 18month old family car from a main dealer
Advertised with full service history and the balance of the 5 year manufacturers warranty left ( the only reason we chose this one over other brands)
I paid for the car on a Friday and was told the Service book / history was coming up the following day, when I was collecting.
The following day came round and I collected, was told the service book was in the glove box, and of course it wasn’t. It was in their “other branch”
I was told this would be posted etc
10 days pass and not received anything, in the meantime, my spidey senses tell me to go into a different dealership and ask about the service history, the only have record of the second service and not the first.
Back onto the phone to supplying dealer, concerned about missing first service (voiding any potential claim)
Turns out the first owner had it serviced at an independent garage, and we only have a 1 liner “1st year / 20k service”
Spoke with the marques HQ and to have the warranty in place we need a breakdown of the first service, genuine parts, stamped check list, oil quality etc - probably going to be a hole in this if we ever track it down.
I’ve given the dealer until midweek this week to get me a letter from manufacturer HQ stating that the warranty is in force and no wriggle room until the car is 5 years old, or I’d like to return the car as I’ve not got what I paid for
I’m guessing I’m in my rights to do so, but of misrepresentation?
At the end of the week,I will have owned the car for 3 weeks, so want to get this sorted ASAP
Any advice
The car is fine, but I will kick my self if I get a big fault when it’s 4 years old and I’m not covered, when I should be

Can’t imagine missing a service will make the car spontaneously combust out of warranty.
Buyers remorse?
Hi, I love the car so want to keep itBuyers remorse?
I’m worried about a problem occurring within the period it should be under warranty, then the brand HQ telling me they won’t repair it as the first service wasn’t done properly. Remember I was sold a car with the balance of the 5 year warranty and full service history. Cheers
The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, reg 5 and 6 should provide protection for you, as you wouldn't have bought the car if it didn't have a FSH.
''It is a breach of the CPRs to fail to give consumers the information they need to make an informed choice in relation to a product if this would cause, or be likely to cause, the average consumer to take a different transactional decision''

Very frustrating as the car is lovely, sold its predecessor now, so don’t want to return it but equally I don’t want a newish car without its main selling feature, the long warranty which I paid a decent wedge for
