Postage to Palma - price seems very high any suggestions?

I'm trying to send a camera lens to a friend who is currently staying in Palma and the price is ridiculous (circa £60) without much insurance. I'm using parcel 2 go. I rarely post abroad but this seems crazy as its not a big parcel and under 1kg.
Does anyone know any reputable options? Thanks!

It's an island. They're expensive. I just compared:

1kg parcel, 20x20x20cm, from Essex to:

Madrid centre - £13
Palma - £53

I just paid €149 to have two rings returned to us in Germany that Mrs A left in the safe in Can Picafort.

I jumped for joy, as you can imagine

Last minute cheap flights from UK to Palma and return combined cost would be less than the cost of postage.

We get asked to send a lot of things to Spanish islands and they are all expensive to ship to, often cost more than sending the same thing to the US etc
