It seems that the fashion these days is for suit trousers that look as if you're wearing a pair of RonHill track pants in a child's size. Additionally, it appears that it's very, very cool to have your trousers finish halfway up your calf, proving to everyone that you're irrelevantly not wearing socks.

I';m certainly not cool, and call me old fashioned, but I'd like a pair of suit trousers that fit over all of my legs. And I like wearing socks.

Is there anywhere that does straight cut, or a much fuller cut in suit trousers that look in some way normal?

I hate shopping.

You say you're not 'cool' but you appear to looking at cool/designer/trendy brands.

As mentioned previously, M&S do 'normal' suits, as do Burton, Next, John Lewis, Debenhams, HoF, TKMaxx, Ted Baker......etc etc

In fact most suit brands come in a variety of fits, one of which is the style you describe. How many did you try on before mourning the demise of the normal suit?

Try Gieves & Hawkes or Huntsman. They’ll cut & finish your trousers to your requirements.

Mine tend to be tailored and that is how he does them, so they sit well as you walk (as too long and they can get into puddles etc) but annoying rise when you sit down higher than I would like... Mind he also does the arm length so the cuffs stick out a fraction which I also don't really like.....

I'm not looking at any brands, hence there being no brands mentioned in my post.

None of the suits I've looked at have a fit in the the style I describe, hence the post... And I don't need to try a suit on that has a foot-hole I couldn't get my hand in, to know that I don't want to buy it.

Whenever I get suits that try to do that, only one of the cuffs ever seems to do it at any one time... hehe

Yeah it gets the stage where you spent 20% of your day sorting out the damn sleeves/cuffs...But my chap measures with arms down and adjusts so maybe that is how he fixes it?

Is there a branch of Slaters near you?
They do brand name suits at discount prices, catering for all ages and sizes, do tailoring alterations in house and usually have very knowledgeable staff on hand.

I have major issues with suit trousers - I do Sprint triathlons, so my legs are just too big for modern skinny fit stuff.

I went to Moss Bros for my last suits - first suggestion made me look like a pensioner, so I asked for advice on a skinnier fit. They recommended going up a waist size and then getting it taken in, as it gave more generosity around the thigh.

Worked a treat, ended up taking one suit away with me and ordering another 2 online.

If you’re truly getting them tailored, it’s you doing it wrong!

That's pretty much what I do... go two waist sizes up then have it altered. I also have to do similar with shirts, otherwise when I move my arms the cuffs end up at my elbows. This means buying "off the shelf" is an utter nightmare.

I’m trying to work out if you meant to type the bold or meant ‘irreverently’?

I guess both could work smile

I guess I must have just been incredibly lucky then to manage to find a variety of normal straight cut suits in all those shops, in various styles, sizes and colours, if you went in them all and drew a blank. They even had my size. I got a navy 3 piece from Burton in the end. How long it lasts remains to be seen but it looks smart enough.
