trying to contact virgin....
Discussion
Seriously, are they this bad ? I just moved to them from BT and was trying to contact them since Sunday about an offer they had on a wine case and have been unable to speak to a single soul. The on hold music is absolutely ridiculous also. Are they this bad for everyone? its a bigger bundle package I signed up for, 100Mb fibre.

not any more, i am more disheartened about my new internet provider and trying to contact them, god forbid if i have prooblems or want to leave - i may as well leave the phone on speaker all morning and pop back at 1pm and see if anyone is there - how do they get away with shoddy service, do Ofcom acually do anything?ericmcn said:

Don't give up though.

thats what i was thinking but shocked to see WTF is it with virgin and trying to speak to someone. I have fibre to home and BT/Openreach were useless also and did not connect my house up even though i told them back in June so last week I dumped them.I am with a small indy ISP and while it is more expensive, the one issue i had was at 5.30am on a Sunday and was fixed by 7am.

With no line active i had no option but use virgin, otherwise i would have done what you did and use another ISP, i had one that would provide 300meg speeds for £60/mth, was ok for me.
Virgin customer service is possibly the worst I have encountered ever.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that I had to call them daily (often many time a day) to get a problem fixed, and their support extended to turning it off an on again, and suggesting I pay someone to show me how to set up my devices (I've been in IT for 25 years).
That don't even know how Wi-Fi works.

Virgin, and telewest ntl et all before them, have always been dire. We had to have cable once when renting in a conservation are that made a sat dish problematic. Never again, life's too short.
Beats me, if they diverted half their marketing budget into customer services they'd still have near saturation marketing but also some kind of ability to retain customers who just have an occasional small issue that needs sorting.

Honestly never had a real problem with them just dial 150 on home phone or mobile work through options and hey presto!
they gave us credit for service out while we were on holiday and we didn't even know there had been an issue.
phoned up yesterday got straight through and got £40 a month discount for 12 months just for saying Im thinking of moving too....
Got friends who moved to Talk talk absolutely lousy performance and zero customer service they are going back to virgin asap

If you feel that your complaint justifies it write to the CEO

I did when I was losing broad band for 1-3 hours every day for three weeks and I was trying to work from home.
I got a response the following day and it was sorted out within 2 days, plus £100 refund on my bill.

Thread disappoints after title. I was going to suggest you try a different dating site.
In 1970 I was a student at UCL and Virgin records was just starting up on the first floor above a shoe shop near the corner of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street, in fact just where their enormous store ended up a few years later. I used to go along there quite often as it was the kind of place where you could get all the bootleg albums. There was simply an A4 sheet on a door at the back of the shoe shop that said, 'Virgin' and an arrow. One day I asked the guy behind the counter for their phone number so I could check if the latest Rolling Stones bootleg was in stock. He wrote Virgin and a phone number in big letters on a cardboard document wallet I was carrying. As I headed for the door, he called out after me and suggested I had better hold it the other way round.
I often wonder how much of Branson's success was down to the choice of such an edgy brand name.
