Question about shirt cuffs
Discussion
Hey chaps,
I have recently started a new job that involves attending an increased amout of meetings and as such I think some new shirts are needed.
Always liked the idea of cuff links but totally confused as to what cuff I need (I believe its a double cuff?)
Also any good shops to go to other than the norm (M&S etc)

If you like a good configurator, www.tailorstore.co.uk is worth a look.
Made to measure, huge choice of fabrics. A bit more than Tyrwhitt etc but beautifully made, and with whatever details you want.

I usually buy mine from TM Lewin, and go for a double cuff and no pocket. They generally have an offer if you buy a few shirts, and are good quality.
As above. I always buy my shirts from TM Lewis. Double cuff. Fitted or super fitted. Sleeve length can be changed. Last a long time too. 4 for £100 ish the last time I got some a few months back. I only need to wear a shirt 4 days a week so have 8 on rotation.Make sure you buy non iron. They still need a quick going over but nothing like the others.

I presume they have some man made material in them, do they?I remember having Lewin shirts when Lewin was only on Jermyn Street and the cotton ones were a sod to keep looking crisp.

The wonderful thing about double cuffs is that when they start to get a bit grubby after a few days wear, you can turn the cuffs inside out to reveal the nice clean material on the inside.
I'm just off to catch up on the teaspoon thread now...
I bet you also turn your socks and pants inside out for a second day of wear, don't you?

A gentleman Spoonist would never wear a shirt more than once for work.

For cufflinks, you'll need French/double cuffs.I have recently started a new job that involves attending an increased amout of meetings and as such I think some new shirts are needed.

I'd suggest Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin. CT do varied sleeve lengths as well.
Pockets are only for casual shirts.

Most of their single cuffs have a slot between the buttons so can be worn with cuff links too.
Not a fan of those. If you're wearing cufflinks, should have the proper double cuffs imo.Edited by g3org3y on Wednesday 4th September 09:33

Formal shirts, tailored to your individual measurements, in any style you could possibly want. Good quality and remarkably good value. Mail order, but they also have stores if you want to check out the quality and be professionally measured. Can't recommend them enough.
Excellent casual shirts too.
With regard to style, that will depend upon your age, the image that you want to project, and whether of not you will be permanently jacketed, or will be in shirt sleeves some of the time. You'll find advice on their website.
Edited to add that if you are going to be suited, then don't wear the same suit every day.

CT make nice shirts and white always looks best but I would guide the OP away from cutaway collars, unless he wants to look spivvy, has slicked back hair (a la Gordon Gecko) or is a young car salesman with no effing idea. Sorry but they just aren't cricket.

+1Order them online, 5 shirts, double cuff, no pocket, £120 plus a bit for next day delivery. Had some arrive yesterday.
