My daughter started high school today. Before she went she was worried about if her uniform was correct, and where she was going. They had a parents lunch at lunch time and we went to see her. She showed us her locker, she locked it and checked it twice to make sure it was locked.

I realised, that's me. That's how I am. Worry about things, double check everything. Every time I move I check my pockets for my phone, wallet and keys (never bloody lost anything in my life though!). My youngest is just like my wife, slapdash, loses and breaks everything, never thinks.

"....it occurred to me, she's grown up just like me, my girl is just like me"

I know the meaning of the song is a little different in that its not meant to be a good thing he grows up just like his dad, but it reminded me of it anyway.

Cool Story Bro etc.

Important business: Harry Chapin original vs Ugly Kid Joe? Going to have to go with Ugly Kid Joe as that was my first introduction into the song.

Nothing physical. Virginity, obvs, my marbles, happens to us all, the will to live.

Agreed. A great humanitarian too.

My favourite is still the legendary WOLD song. So many poignant lines in that and a great but sad story

Harry Chapin. You can't improve on the original!

Original for me as well - and WOLD (such a perceptive view of the human condition in both songs).
