I had a few touristy days in London the other week. amongst seeing some sights and riding the tube at rush hour, I noticed the sheer amount of people who have been turned into zombies by their mobile phones.

Worst example was when a woman was so engrossed in furiously flicking her screen, she didn't notice me and walked straight into me. No apology or anything, just grunted something and walked off, still glued to her phone.

It's not just London where I see this though, it's all over. On the train, walking down the street in my local town, in shops, when sat in the pub etc. Some people seem to be transfixed by their smart phone. Even when driving, for fk's sake. It's got to the point where some people don't even look up.

Anyone else think it's pretty sad that the world is going this way? What's the point of even being sat in a restaurant with someone if you are spending more time flicking and tapping a phone than conversing with the person opposite?

Zombies. Everyone is turning into a phone zombie.

Annoys the life out of me.

I was shocked to read that city planners are considering signs on the pavement to direct these idiots as well so there then becomes no reason to look up at all.

When I was working off oxford street I had a few people get angry at me, because they walked into me and I didn’t leap out of their way since they weren’t watching where they were going!

Le Mans this year on the way to the centre on Friday. Guy staring at phone with ear phones in walks out right in front of the Tram. How the driver stopped in time is a miricle and even with the horn blaring from this massive bright orange Tram less than half a Metre from him, he didn't register a thing and just kept walking.

The problem is real. There's even an app (can't remember the name) which uses your camera and shows it as a small square so you can zombie away and still see what is in front of you without having to look up. Madness.

I was following a motor cyclist turning left, and at the last moment he registered a young lad just walk out in to the road at the junction. The pedestrian had headphones on, and was actually looking where he was going, but was oblivious to what was going on around him – and probably still is. He was a whisker away from serious injury.
Watching one end up in the local pub’s flower bed was funny though…
Maybe its just another form of evolution?

I think having a phone in restaurants should be banned. You watch people and they are just flicking a phone. Does my box in. Meet up with pals occasionally. Friends since born pritty much. Life takes you on a path but we all meet up every few months yet half of them sit texting, looking at stuff on their phone for the entire time we're anywhere. Actually cancelled on them last time as what's the point? I'd rather be at home than watching them text.

Edit : sent via galaxy s9 while meant to be working.. lol

It seems to be the norm to own one of those touch screen phones, which of course is fine.

But people need to wise up,they are dangerous as has been said allready and very anti social.

My close friend is bitten by them and won't leave the thing alone. He was staying with me while on holiday and it got so bad I told him to stop it or Fuchs off.
He had no idea why I had the hump. I reckon he was checking it every three minutes.

I don't own one.

I ride past Southampton station an almost daily, without fail someone steps out into the road whilst looking at their phones. I make a point of putting mine away when out with people for dinner etc, and encourage others to do the same. It's a real issue.

I complain about this a lot. I spend a lot of time in airports and have noticed them becoming quieter and quieter places. Entire families of 4 or 5 sitting around on their phones. No one talks anymore.

I was in South Korea where this kind of thing has been evolving for much longer. Staying in a hotel just past the old F1 circuit and a load of track exotica rolled in.

About 20ish young lads come in from a track day. You'd think they'd be buzzing from the day's events, but in the bar area they just sit around without a soul speaking and no laughter at all, just flicking through their phone frown

Drive a van and you get to see how shocking it is

I’ve noticed people with semi self driving cars with two phones, iPads, laptops paperwork

Looking down for 10 seconds or more at a time

I nearly crash staring at them to see how long they are not paying attention for teacher

My pet peeve when I call people on this if we are in a group is they always show this image.

As if a group of strangers on a train reading about world events on their way to work is in anyway comparable to them sitting in a restaurant with a group of friends while ignoring them and checking facebook and whatsapp to see what people who are not even there are up to.

The solution to everyone looking at their phones in a restaurant is first one to look at a phone pays the whole bill.

It's the same with people using cameras to video/photo everything.
At a car show - the camera knobs expect you to stand clear of that car so they can all take photo's.
At air shows - something interesting is flying around, but they're just seeing it through a lens.
At a concert - people are looking at their screen while they video it.

It's crazy - you may as well just sit at home and watch it on TV.
It's so they can add their snaps/vids to Facebook of course...'look at meeeee having more fun than you'.

Work in a city & see it every fooking day & then some. You end up walking up the back of some dipsts legs cos they stop dead right in front of you looking agape at something on their phone. Saw a girl step out onto 6 lane main road ignoring everything & get side swiped by a slowing car, unfortunately the fooking moron was only bruised. The more of these pr1cks who earn a Darwin award for their stupidity the better imo. Keeps the gene pool clear of the m0ngs.

And don't those apple airpods look W*nk!
Must be some sort of indication of near extinct for said wearer because whenever I see them the gormless wearer seems inches away from a fatal accident.

Sat in work and watched a group of 7 or so teenagers walking along in silence all staring at their phones. Got so bad in work they banned us from having them at our desk. Last week when out to play with my 9 year old son, he was so busy catching pokemon things he walked into a lamppost. Now limited how much daily time they get in general. Kids don’t seem to go out and play anymore as it’s all YouTube and iPads.

Last night I saw a very young boy holding hands with this mother, headphones in and watching something on his phone. Without his mother correcting him he is going to think that's the normal thing to do, right up the point he gets hit by a truck because he wasn't listening or looking where he was going.
