Advice and thought's all, not just single Dad's.
Single parent to two daughter's 16 & 14, lost Mum 4 years ago so they are pretty mature and very resilient.
I've just been offered a job but it's Nightshift, 12hours, 7 on/7 off.
Who'd be willing to leave them alone at night. I know it's very subjective to each child.
I'd be working literally 5 mins away.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

I don’t know if you have a legal side to worry about with the 14yrold?

As you say really is child dependent, basically if they are nightmare idiots or sensible.

I was an idiot and couldn’t be left alone at 14 my twin sister on other hand would maybe even run a hoover around.

Sit down speak with them about how they feel, how they understand you have to work for you all to have a good life etc and see what occurs, I’d go on your feelings.

But like I say is it a problem to leave a 14 yr old, in our soft society? Best check. It shouldn’t be IMO.

I agree at weekends, but I'd be home when they got up and came home from college/school. So maybe a couple of hours at night, which they spend in their rooms mainly anyway.
So that side, I'm ok with. It's the actual leaving them.

Cheers for the reply.
The only legal statement is if it would be classed as "neglect".
The youngest already more "house trained" cooking etc than the elder one.
The only bit of "legal" advice I've had is "What do you think would happen if they had an arguement"!!!

I'm going through some difficulties with my two boys atm. Lost one full-time to his mum, now I've just heard my youngest isn't keen on coming now.

Your girls KNOW that you are there when they are in their rooms. That will be a sense of security for them.
They have lost one parent - don't let them lose another.
