I feel like I’m getting old as I keep seeing things that look like fun but are a bit stupid

Saturday I had to drive in and around Southampton and go into the centre of town.

Driving down the busy Shirley high street, lads coming the other way wereon the wrong side of the road wheelieing their push bikes directly towards oncoming cars and serving at the last minute. Very skilled, but not at all aware of what’s going on around them etc

Park up and they are in the centre of town doing it down the pedestrian precinct, swerving literally inches from peoples heads, crazy stuff

Is there some craze going on at the mo?

Just nipped out for lunch and theirs naughty kids doing wheelies along a main road holding traffic up

I could pull good wheelies on my Raleigh activator back in the day, but couldn’t do the last minute swerve thing due to the bloody thing being made of old tanks.

Is there some craze going on at the mo?

You might be on to something - I was walking through the centre of Leeds last week and there was some young scamp lofting a very impressive minger all the way up the middle of the road. Not seen anyone do that in years.

I was jealous.

Saw some lads in V for Vendetta masks riding around an out of town shopping centre car park the other week whilst pulling wheelies.

They were only 11-12 year old judging by size of them, impressive skills but wheeling round a blind-ish corner on the wrong side of the road was not clever - one lad very nearly got flattened by a reversing car. They gave the driver some verbal despite clearly being in the wrong then headed off to the Tesco car park nearby to do the same there.

It was my new years resolution to re-learn a few years back. Seemed way easier on a grifter than it does now.

I'm of the view that there is literally no situation that cannot be improved by a wheelie!

You'd be amazed how men applaud you and women fall at your feet, such is their appeal. If you're single, learn to wheelie. By the time your front wheel has hit the ground, you'll have girls queuing up to take your number.

Married men... Take note. Find somewhere quiet to practice this majestic god-like pass time.

Yep, seems to be the latest Darwinism craze for today's yoof. Skilful yes but doing it down the main road is pretty silly.

Did you happen to know the answer?
Given the times we live in whereby people type any old shyte and hit send without even reading it it's a perfectly acceptable question!
Don't laugh, but I did actually Google lofting "Lofting is a drafting technique whereby curved lines are generated" biggrin
A minger is a dirty person.

Ummm must be a 'thing' then.

Happened recently while riding along a canal path. Thought someone was going for an early bath.

Out in London last year I had maybe 200 or so scrotes on bikes 'pulling mingers' (not heard that before LOL) up past Euston station. Very impressive but totally not the place for it. They ran red lights, were on the wrong side of the road and were very close to pedestrians on a crossing and when challenged a hurl of verbal abuse was received. Im all for ttting about on my bike but not on main roads and not on pedestrian crossings. Maybe I'm getting too old biggrin

I visited Margate last week (for a car show, not the beach) and a group of lads were doing this the wrong way down a one way street. Seemed to leave it quite late for getting out my way considering they were entirely in the wrong and little space to get out the way too due to parked cars lining the road.

In Milton Keynes I've seen it a few times over the past 3 weeks too, so it's definitely a trend that has restarted. I tried wheelies when younger, but not really noticed any kids doing it for years/decades. They must think it's something new.

I can't remember who it is, but there's definitely a "thing" specific to wheelies now thanks in large part to some young lad who does a lot of what (in mah day etc) I'd call flatland stuff. Has his own "signature" bike with geometry good for wheelies etc.
