To cut a very long story short I've been stringing a scammer along (always good fun) and they have handed over their bank account details, I'm obviously not going to hand any money over, but wondering if their is any mileage in this? hehe

Any chance they are uk based? action fraud would be interested i suspect!

You could always sign them up to lots of Direct Debits....

It will be a mule's account, not that of the scammer. There are adverts all over the place promsing quick money if you let them use your bank account.

Well done for stringing then along

If everyone did this for a few minutes a week it’d lessen the chance of a real victim getting done smile

Ahh shame, if it was a bank account I might have donated to a few charities, might just have to string them along a bit more

How would you have donated anything with a sort and acc? Unless you have their long card number, expiry and 3 digit code on the back, you wouldn't be donating a penny.

Technically using their bank account details for direct debits, etc would be classified as fraud. OP, I'd advise against doing anything other than report to something like action fraud, etc...

I know I'm going to sound all serious but why would you want to string along someone who's potentially part of an organised crime outfit? confused

Boring answer but report it to your bank as attempted fraud against you. They will contact the other bank and that account will get blocked preventing some unfortunate from getting scammed.

Wouldnt bother with bank or action fraud. I packaged up a load of info on a scammer using their details for the previously mentioned who couldn’t have cared less. Easier for the banks to charge us more and replace any lost funds than properly fight it
