I know world is getting ruder and people demonstrate less and less etiquette towards one another but Is it just me or is it just rude that parents let their children watch TV on their phones with speakers blasting.......

Sat in the barbers and as it is half term it's full of small children (why they're here I don't know?).

I know I grew up in the 80's/90's but my parents limited my Gameboy use when out in public and I knew to be quiet. What stood out was one child after putting down his phone and picking up a ladybird book said to his mum it's fun to read books....... Mum responded by saying did he want a congratulations or somefing....... fk me! What is the world coming to.

Not just kids, common adults do it too. I had it this morning, two fake-tanned fake-blonde women, watching a video of a 6/7 year old screaming out the lyrics to "Somewhere over the rainbow" at full volume on her phone on a busy commuter train. I could hear it above the headphones I had in.

I've asked people to turn it down before.

What can be great fun is using a medium power phone jammer or a WiFi deauthor . Their faces when they cannot chat or facebook is priceless ! Ain’t worried about legalities , I want peace and quiet .

I would never condone such behaviour. Do you have a link to where I could find one?

I see far more adults than kids doing this.

Recently a bloke in his 40's watching various news stories at full volume in the coffee shop.
A woman in her 50's walking down the street having a facetime conversation.

I'm not sure when people became such selfish pricks.

They have always been selfish pricks. The difference is that they now have easy access to the technology to broadcast the fact.

Out of interest, how did that go down?

On the hand full of occasions that I have asked them to turn the volume down, I've been to fk off, ignored, ect. Best I got was "it's the only way to keep him quite". No one has actually turned it down.

I've done similar. You have to look like you're ready to dominate the restaurant, though, otherwise they don't take you seriously. Frozen sausages, cans of Red Bull and Companies House documentation to hand, of course.

Walk past them and accidentally knock the device to the floor, then accidentally stand on it.

I was going to post similar today, that it's not just yoofs.

I was in a Greasy Spoon cafe and the owners always have a radio station on which is fine, except some twunt was sat on the table next to it watching the news at full volume on his phone.

He was a big fecker, so I didn't fancy telling him to go buy some headphones.

People are either pig ignorant or know that no one wants to challenge them.

I must buy the above.

A bloke in the pub turned it down right away. Later on it was turned up a little again but still not as high as it was at the start.

Illegal, but please don't use on trains, etc. Esp the phone jammer.

I like the idea of a jammer, but the problem is that it's not selective, I wouldn't like to stop a regular nice person from receiving a potentially important phone call about an accident or sick relative etc.

Video wkers at volume particularly in a restaurant want ttting.

To be quite honest the best way around these issues on public transport are a good set of noise cancelling headphones ala Sony wh1000xm3.

Jammer probably isn’t a great idea in reality.

Why do they never seem to get prosecuted? Surely it’s far more dangerous than doing 35mph in a 30mph zone (for which I know plenty of people get done).

Not condoning speeding, just saying using a phone while driving is far worse but routinely goes unpunished.

Fines go to the treasury and flow down back to the police would not be assured. Just as VED doesn’t go to the road maintenance.
