I have wireless headphones, I can listen at decent volume and I don't have to interact with anyone else while im having my private concert.
How do you get the bass notes though?Headphones are great for listening to TMS cricket during the small hours as the England cricket team play NZ.
But not for music where you need the full panoply of Hz.

How do kids cope now listening to music with only ear phones or a mobile phone.
Back in our day at least we had stereos with big speakers...
I actually made this same point with some friends a while ago.Back in our day at least we had stereos with big speakers...
I grew up in the 80’s/90’s and most of us ‘kids’ had some kind of hifi system in our bedrooms.
My first one was an old B&O system that my dad didn’t want anymore, progressing to a pretty nice Aiwa, then finally an all singing all dancing Sony 6 CD, MiniDisc, Tape and Radio SuperMegaXtra Bass hifi thingy.
They all sounded great because they all had decent amps and decent 3 way speakers of a good size.
For the last 15 years or so kids have suffered listening to music on s
tty computer speakers, terrible iPod docks, Bluetooth speakers, crap headphones or just off their phones. It’s only in the last few years that portable Bluetooth speakers have started to sound good, but even now they don’t compare to some proper hifi speakers.
It’s a disgrace and it needs to stop.
I’ll have to start a campaign or something...

I was under the impression that a really decent pair of headphones would outperform many hifi systems (especially when you are comparing similar spends).

I mainly use headphones to not bother others as no one I know shares my taste.
It's the same for food and health.
At one of end of the scale kids are being far more health conscious - not drinking to excess and not binging on crap food. But at the same time there's a crisis of people just eating takeaways and becoming obese.
Its all down to education and motivation either driven by the individual or imo more honestly the parents.
Its the same with music. Alot of kids have grown up on Bluetooth headphones but at the same time you have little s
ts who think it's socially acceptable to blast iPhone speakers whilst on a train......
