Dhl broke my goods,then i get charged for broken part?

Bought a key cutting machine from China,after DHL had played basketball with it the product was shattered,and had the privilege of paying £50 import duty for the pleasure.
Seller sent me 'free' replacement part that was broken and im charged £16 import duty ffs,on a £35 part?!!!On a part i should have been given,don't DHL bear any responsibility for this crap?

I sold the oven from our camper, on ebay, and sent it via DHL

I think they parked a truck on it as its lozenged,

it took them 13 days to let me know it was damaged, was only when I was chasing them they admitted it,

then they said "we dont cover glass" what about the steel oven?

total tossers.

Did you ship it like that with no packaging/protection around the outside?

Thought exactly that. If not, it doesn’t surprise me it didn’t last in transit.

it had thick card around it and bubble wrap between it and the outer box,

its out of square by about 3 inch

That's pretty terrible packaging.

Today I watched one of the couriers who deliver to where I work stomp all over a pallet marked fragile. That was at around 10.30 so who knows how many times he stomped all over the same pallet before he got to us.
