Had a highly amusing ale fuelled conversation and want to get a wider view from others on this.
In summary a mate of mine has openly stated that he no longer likes to pee in toilets if it can be avoided.
In the morning and when he gets back from work, he pees in the shower. Rationale being why not kill two birds with one stone. Pees into the drain whist water running obviously, not just using it as a giant urinal tray.
He’s normally works in rural woodland areas so during the day pees outdoors as a matter of course.
But likes it so much that when at home prefers to pee in his own garden flowerbeds / compost heap instead of using a toilet
After many years his Mrs now thinks it’s normal that when he lets the dog out before bedtime to pee, he takes this moment himself to take a stroll and pee also. If it’s raining, he grabs an umbrella. So that’s not just opportunistic, that’s showing premeditated commitment!
Far from being appalled, she’s happy because the toilets indoors stay cleaner due to less splash back, the toilet seat is never left up and he says that there’s something animalistic about it that he likes - hands on hips, no handed peeing
To be clear, he doesn’t pee up against buildings or in other other peoples gardens when a guest in their home or anything like that. Just that given a choice when at home, he’ll never pee in the toilet through habit and preference.
Now what surprised me was that my shock wasn’t universal. Other blokes agreed that an outdoor pee is ‘a good thing’ and nodded sagely. Towards the end of the convo it was beginning to sound like normal behaviour
So, please vote on this so I can get a rounded view on the topic! Either this is something I need to get onboard with, or I need to broaden by social circles

I can understand the concept behind it
Flushing the loo for a pee uses a lot of resources, there’s obviously the water, but more importantly the energy used to transport it and then sanitise it.
I have my own loo at home and for just a pee I feather the flush just to pass enough water to clear the pee away, doesn’t need full flush
I really must get one of those toilets where the cistern is filled from the integrated sink when washing hands

If I had a garden I'd happily piss in it instead of a toilet.
Though I've never really understood the concept of water consumption, um it's still water it's just moved somewhere else, churning through several litres of serviceable drinking water to get rid of a few of your own dribbles has always seemed stupid to me.

A dad of a mate of mine always asked that he and his mates urinate around their garden when coming back from a night out for this very reason. Used to amuse us, but glad to hear others use this method too. Unless you’re him...
