Fix My Street App

I live in a rural area and the pot hole situation is pretty grim at the moment, probably similar to many on here.
I downloaded “Fix my street” App and reported two big ones near my house.
Frankly, I wasn’t expecting a lot to happen but have been quite surprised.
My report was quickly sent to my local council (Surrey) who quickly responded by saying they would send someone out, which they did in two days and they have marked up the holes.
They are yet to be repaired but on the list.
The App is easy to use, it logs your GPS position and you then take a pic and submit.
Let’s get reporting these bl@@dy pot holes !!

I report mine directly to my local council on their web site. How quickly they repair them seems to vary, one I reported on Sunday has been fixed already, but that might already have been reported by someone else.
The main thing that FMS has (or had, last time I looked) is the ability to see what other people have reported in the same area, and the ability to report them without knowing what council area you're in. When I looked on it for my area, though, there were lots of reports from years back that hadn't been updated to show that they've long since been filled in and, in some cases, come out again.
I see many people posting on forums that by reporting to FMS rather than directly to the council somehow affects how quickly a hole is repaired - I've even seen it said that once reported to FMS "they only have 72 hours to sort them out", which doesn't seem to be true at all. There's nothing on the FMS web site to suggest that they do anything other than pass the reports on.
The app sounds nice with the GPS position making it easier to report stuff - I often forget exactly where a hole is by the time I've got home to the PC. I was thinking of doing something similar as I have an old app that I wrote years ago that used to work in a similar way, but I don't do enough mileage to warrant it and I certainly don't want to feel like I have to start driving around looking for the holes. I'm not sure I'd want the hassle of taking a photo, though.

It worked for me. I was living in Knutsford, and about 1 mile from the McLaren garage when it was in the town centre. There was a huge pot hole, about 6 inches deep 2 feet wide, a lot of people were reporting wrecked alloys, I put the deatils on fixmystreet and the pot hole was fixed within 4 days.
I made the point that it was very near McLaren and the council would not have wanted to pay for 4 new wheels for a P1.

Ah, you fell for that, did you? I've seen potholes around here where the paint markings are on so long that they either wear out, or the pothole expands enough to take the painted bit away.It's a step, though, at least there's something happening.
There was a local news item here a couple of years ago where people were seeing potholes and painting white around them, and then complaining because they still weren't being fixed. They just didn't seem to understand that if the council highways people were driving around in order to see their white paint, then they'd probably have seen the hole themselves - the issue is not that the pothole isn't marked, it's that the councils don't have enough people to drive around every mile of road, every day, looking for defects.

I've reported one on the A339 between Basinstoke and Newbury, it's horrific, the road has split and sunk, leaving a deep straight edge. It'll be fatel for a motorcyclist if thhey come off.
I rang the council 3 times to follow up, it's berrn there for 4 weeks and the last I saw, not marked up.

The ones at the end of my road have also been fixed. If, by "fixed", you mean a small amount of tarmac has been shoved into them, not quite meeting the edge of the hole, not rolled flat, and not sealed around the edges. OK, so that's on a small road on a housing estate, but they've done a similarly rotten job on some on a busier road. It's a pity, because I had noticed recently that they'd started sealing the edges on some repairs.
