Can somebody explain please . Old Ford London .About 3 metres of kerbstone work being done,so no intrusion on roadway. Why do we have 15 MTRS of barrier half way across the road ? And a set of temp lights stretching 100 MTRS. Ok while workmen attending ,but when they've gone ,why not push barriers to edge of road,turn lights off as road is wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass easily . Rush hour adds 30 minutes just to get through this part of road !!! THANKS HIGHWAYS DEPT .

What you're suggesting would require common sense. It would also deprive the Highways Dept of an opportunity to create some extra congestion to help underline the government's anti-motorist rhetoric.

At the moment, there are roadworks on the M6 near Rugby. Traffic is being diverted onto the A46/A45 around Coventry which, due to roadworks, is down to one lane.
