Chinese wet markets and novel viruses

H1N9, SARS and CV19 seemingly originated in China. It seems that ‘wet markets’ where wildlife like birds, bears, bats, pangolins, snakes, turtles, etc are kept, slaughtered and sold in unsanitary conditions could be a reason that the diseases started there.
So are these markets still operating (worldwide, not just in China) and what can we do to ensure they are shut down ?

There were some terrible sights in China when I lived there, cockroaches dipped in chocolate, live baby rats eaten or rather lowered down the throat, decapitated snakes eaten whilst their blood is still warm. they even had a special table with a hole in the centre, a monkey would be given alcohol until it was drunk and then its head fitted into the hole, the top of its head would be removed and diners at the table would eat the monkey brains.
The chinese have an expression, anything can be eaten as long as its back faces the sun.

yeah I've heard some bad things. And that's without getting into their penchant for endangered species. Makes you laugh at all these right on woke types constantly attacking western life while happy to buy Chinese doesn't it.The chinese have an expression, anything can be eaten as long as its back faces the sun.
Maybe the fallout of this is it will motivate Beijing into clamping down?

As for the intoxicated live monkey brains, that comes from ritualistic practices from hundreds of years ago, apparently it happens still in parts of the country, but is not widespread. You're more likely to see Chinese eat live, 'drunken shrimp' than primate parts.

I lived in China and Hong Kong for a number of years, no myth.The real reason for more viruses outbreaks are the chinese chopping down there habitats so have no where to live, becoming closer to human habitats.

The swiss eat dogs and cats, but it is farmers in very small quanties. You never hear people say they are all eat dog and cats eaters because they don't. The monkey brain stories, countless respected journists have proved it is a myth pepetuated by the old views the Chinese are abhorrent creatures, when they clearly aren't.

They certainly aren’t overly common sights but they do indeed happen. I saw them when working outside Beijing just before the olympics. The real reason for more viruses outbreaks are the chinese chopping down there habitats so have no where to live, becoming closer to human habitats.

With the recent outbreak there have been numerous recently recorded videos (within the last 6mths) surfaced on twitter and YouTube showing these eating acts.

This will come as a big surprise, I am not really interested in what you think,I lived in China during the 1980s and the practice of eating freshly killed snakes was common, especially during the winter. I saw people eating live baby rats, I saw the practice of throwing live dogs into very large pots of boiling water for a feast, especially on construction sites. My work colleagues knew of restaurants where live monkey brains was a delicacy.
Its insulting of you to call someone a liar just because it is outside of your own experience and knowledge.
