NHS ventilator shortages - a thought

Considering that the NHS is short of ventilators and that millions of us are going to be sitting at home with plenty of time on our hands soon
,i was wondering if people could be paid and be put to work partly assembling ventilators at home?
There must be a part of the assembly process where no special skill is required ?
Not that I know anything about ventilators,and how the logistics would be arranged,but its just a thought....

Yeh let's smear our germs all over kit destined for ICU. I suppose they could disinfect on the way in but that and distributing the parts and making sure the assembly is done right seems unfeasible.

There is already a lot of businesses that now have nothing to do, might be best left to them rather than DIY.

Quality control and organising it would be tricky

In theory it's a very good idea. Logistically might be a bit difficult. I think one car manfacturer is in line for doing it?

OP, is your idea separate to the government's request for industry to get involved, to which the likes of the F1 teams and Rolls Royce have responded?

Not sure what youre getting at there there,but i had heard that firms were coming forward to help with the shortages but also much more help would be needed than these firms could provide,and theres millions of people going to be sitting at home soon (probably me included) twiddling their thumbs,considering nearly all of us are connected by computer there must be some productive way we could be spending our time over the next few months
I understand the posters who are mentioning issues around logistics,training etc,but as I said in my original post its just a thought.
