Paintwork protector

Ime not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but here goes!
My 1962 Super Two has an engine cover held down with Dzus fasteners. Ive just painted it in 2 pack and want to protect where the cover touches the body. I was thinking of something like a self adhesive Mylar film as there is no clearance for the fixings. Maybe something like as used for behind wheel arches on production cars. Anyone have any ideas?

This will be adequate enough.
