Starting to run low on supplies so need to pop down to the supermarket. It was over a week since I last braved the crowds and it was pretty rammed, so I’m thinking of donning some PPE for my next visit.

I’ve got a screwfix respirator, swimming goggles and latex gloves. Just wondering if anyone else is taking similar measures, or will I likely stand out like a sore thumb tomorrow?

Not just tomorrow, any day.

You will look like a twonk. Rubber gloves ok, but a respirator and swimming goggle, you will definitely stand out. At least you probably won't get coronavirus.

OP going shopping tomorrow, as long as you keep your distance don't start snogging people you should be fine.

Maybe I’ll drop the swimming goggles then.

This is the respirator....

https://www.screwfix.com/p/3m-4251-maintenance-fre...

It’s only p2 rated so not as good as p3, but I read somewhere healthcare workers do use p2/p3 when dealing with flu patients.

If I have to go out I'll wear my PPE. At some point people will realise this is serious. Perhaps when the army arrives, or the ventilators run out.

Wipe the food packets down before you put the food away. Stay safe OP

I found drawing red lines down your face from the corners of your eyes and nose enables the 2m distance better

Just read P2 is recommended by the WHO to prevent coronavirus infection, so should be ok.

Yes, I’ll look daft, but getting infected now, means potentially needing a ventilator in 7-10 days and they’ll likely have run out by then so it’s a definitely going to be more risky if you get infected in the next few week.

I just go naked, found it a brilliant way to ensure everyone keeps a decent distance.

I prefer a gimp mask, leather doesn’t absorb the spittle.

If you’ve got a hard on that guarantees at least a 2 inch gap

Don't care what you look like, it's about doing the best you can to stay safe.

Seem to remember an Italian family with all the gear on weeks back sat on a train. It looked like some were laughing at them in the background. South Koreans all seem to have masks and look at their containment of it recently.

The more serious it is taken, the sooner it should end

Think how us posties feel. We have no protection at all and are outside for 5 hrs touching 1000 letterboxes.

I went out to Tesco today wearing this P3 mask.

Force 8 Half-Mask with PressToCheck P3 Filters (JSP BHT0A3-0L5-N00) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ZCOFHM0/ref=cm_sw_r...

Got more positive comments than negative smile

Why don’t you wear gloves and a mask anyhow? Are you under instructions not to?
