Shout out to all the house mums, husbands

After all those years of at least making sure the house was habitable when partner X came home late again and didn't have to worry about the bins....

It was brought home today as s House Husband who used to work in the City before retiring at 50, when my wife, who is a teacher said to me

" Don't you know I am working from home?"

I only asked her a question about cleaing the day room full length doors now we are down to cleaning them with something that has 0.5% Aloe Vera. Looking good for summer.


As a house husband I do feel I need to bond with all my fellow house husbands and housewives who know actually have to live with these poor bds 24/7

Holy Moly...


Let's face it ... all these working from home people will soon be drinking vodka just after breakfast as a "pep up" whilst us house mums are 6 stages
removed from the urine drinking stage.


Meanwhile being a house dad I did some extra reading during my chores

Not house husband but work shifts and have a lot of time off during the week and do all the cleaning.

I had to spend two hours lying on the bed upstairs, otherwise I would have been totally rumbled on how long it takes for me to clean the house. This was time which would normally be spent doing far more productive things like watching reruns of Space 1999.

I also finished work a couple of years ago, my wife is still working full time, so house, cooking and dog are my domain. She is now full time working at home. Fortunately we already have a home office room, so she is mostly working in it.

The first 4 days have been fine.

5 or 6 weeks?

Don't consider yourself a house husband, just realise you've now more time to supervise, check and plan.

[Unexpected Item In The Bagging Area]

I’ve been a stay at home dad for just about 3 years now, although our eldest daughter is only 2 and a bit (I stopped working when we got a puppy and knew that we would be having a baby). We also have a 5-month-old daughter so my wife is on maternity leave and will be until October after which things will get a bit busy for me as I’ll have the little smashers, the house and the dog to look after! Also my OH’s job is very intense so she does a fair bit of work in the evenings and sometimes at weekends too so I do everything around the house. The saviour for me will be our girls going to nursery 2 days/week which will give me some breathing space!

I’m not complaining though as I’m very fortunate to be able to not work and instead be at home with my family all the time messing about and going out for walks every day. My wife and I have a great balance in that she couldn’t do my role and I was never a fan of working, so everyone’s happy. All I have to do now is continue trying to convince her that I don’t spend half the day reading crap on PH...
