Local cemetery

Hi all

Wondered if anyone could tell me the situation this easter weekend with their local cemetery.

I get, that very unfortunately, funerals are limited to a set number of immediate family members in these current times, but wasn’t aware that places had actually locked up their cemetery to stop people visiting and laying flowers and paying respects to loved ones lost until Mum tried to go and visit dad yesterday (_•as part of her daily exercise, 5 minute walk from front door)

Any news links to similar happening in the UK would be appreciated.

Take the gate off and remove access to the taps and watering cans and I can’t see any risk at all.

It’s the only place I can think of where people automatically social distance and always have done out of respect for others who might, very rarely, be there at the same time. Certainly if I go to dads grave and there is someone having a few minutes nearby I just wander down one of the other paths until they have left and give them some space and privacy.

It’s causing a bit of an uproar locally, but if is happening through the UK I guess they are just following guidelines.

Same here. Chained up and no way in by foot or car.
Only open for funerals which they are still doing but open the gates for the cars then close them again.

Strange for sure but I don't personally have a problem with it for a few months.

Saw it in a mailshot from Wandsworth yesterday, stating that two of the cemeteries managed by Wandsworth will be closed to visitors.

One of the has work going on to enable it to provide temporary mortuary space, which may go some way to explain..

Stupid thing here is the parks aren’t closed. There is one literally right across the road. Anyone who has ever been to TT races will know. Noble spark one side of start finish line open, cemetery other side closed - makes no sense.

Fair enough if it is happening in other places though. Just seems totally unnecessary
