What’s the appropriate response?

Some one unknown keeps leaving their little bags of dog poo shoved in our hedge and I’ve today found a couple of them pushed through the holes in our fence.


I’ve of course not seen the low life responsible for doing this but if I find out who it is, can I poison them (or the dog) to stop it happening?

I've had this, but as frustrating as it is...I'd suggest the dog didn't bag it up and put it there.

Try and catch the person in the act and have a word with him/her. Most people don't want conflict, so just be the bigger man and speak to the person.

Burn your hedge, fix your fence, build another fence to replace your hedge as you will need a secure compound if you posion the dog.

I had this happen to me so put a sign up saying "whoever is leaving bags of dog st in my hedge, take it home as you are now being filmed" they weren't but said as a deterrent.

One day I was working in the garden and a passing copper told me I had to take it down as the word st was offensive!

Ok so of course I’m not actually planning to poison anyone or their dog. That would be a huge over reaction - and illegal.

I think the chances of catching this person are pretty much zero - they won’t be doing this if they can see anyone and because they are on the other side of the fence/hedge, when I’m in the house I won’t be able to see them doing the deed.

The problem with putting a sign up saying 'Please stop putting your dog sh*t in my hedge' is that people will put dog sh*t in your hedge.

Or just set up a camera in the car and review the footage in the comfort of your home.

To narrow-down the time of the offence, check for poop once an hour.

It would be great to find out who was responsible and then get a local farmer to go and dump two tonnes of the smelliest manure he can get on the offenders front lawn.

But in all seriousness this would drive me nuts too. You have my sympathies.

Electric fence installed in the hedge? No danger to anyone unless they are sticking their hands in your garden hedge - whihc they should not be doing.
