I would like to collect an item from someone in Loosley Hill.

He won't let me send a courier and I can't really be bothered to argue with him.

It's not big or heavy and in less trying circumstances I'd just get it myself.

If you live nearby, I'm happy to pay you to collect it from the previous owner's garden.

I'll then pay a courier to pick it up from you.

Ebayer won't know it's a random.

Reason for not wanting to deal with a courier is the introduction of a link in the chain which might add damage.

OP is wanting to (understandably) bend the listing. It was probably "collect in person".

Ooooooo it's getting exciting now.

It was collection only, but I emailed the seller 2 hours before the listing ended to ask if courier would be ok.

He didn't reply so I put a bid in anyway, which was 2x what it would have sold for had I not bid.

I've already told him that I can't travel due to lockdown and will try to arrange for someone local to collect it.

Any more conspiracy theories?
