What is this? Light over Solway.

My friend took this photo last night of a red light in the low sky over the Solway. He says this wasn't the biggest it had been and that it appeared to be going over the horizon. The photo is taken from NW England looking towards Scotland.



This one was taken just as it was disappearing, you can barely make it out.



The sun sets about 60 degrees to the left of the photo but this was taken well after the sun was down, he says it was about 3am.

I don't think it's a flare, looks too big. Looks like a big fireball.

I've asked. He said it was either over the sea or over the land, Scotland side. So bigger than a lantern.

Dont there's anything like that in the Solway? If there is then it's a good answer.

There's a big wind farm bit not sure how that could explain it.
