Asking for discounts

May be everyone else already knows this...
I was looking to buy some AV stuff on Amazon and emailed the suppliers asking for a discount. Price is in the high hundreds.
Four replied with almost the same amount of discount (about 5%) and all of them said that I could have this price if I went to their own online shop.
Does this happen all the time?
Anyhow I wrote back saying I expected at least 10%, because I achieved that recently with a supplier for another AV product.

Why don't you go back to the other supplier who gave you 10%?

Quite, ALL businesses will be struggling now, but there are always people who want more regardless.

So I guess the moral of the story then is don't buy on Amazon if you want the best prices?

I sell a fair bit of stuff on Amazon that customers would get cheaper, without even asking, if they went to my website.

Amazon seller's fees are high, and I pass that on to my Amazon customers.
