What are you getting your old man for father's day?

Or, alternatively, if you are the old man, what would you like for father's day?

My dad is a standard dad that is impossible to buy for, so really looking for some inspiration. His recent hobby has been building garden furniture out of wood, so maybe something related to that ...

Drink is the standard present, but he has so many bottles kicking about it's a bit dull.

This year is my first fathers day so that will be nice, i want the Pioneer XDJ-XZ but i don't think that is going to happen lol

I'm pretty sure that I am the same, but I have asked my daughter for a notch bracelet - it's like a charm bracelet but the "notches" can be sporting achievements, so I can get a notch with it and then she can buy others for future birthdays/Christmas etc. Think 1 for Leeds HM, Vale of York HM, Yorkshire Masters Rugby League, GB Master Rugby League and so on

Massive fluke for me, I decided to have a walk around an antiques shop found a nice print of a A4 Pacific train. Unfortunately this was pre Covid and I now have two weeks to find where I put the fking thing...

Anyhoo.... how about a print of something.

I've suggested to my daughters a) a nice portable bottle opener b) some beer bottle chillers (the wrap around type)

With pubs closed been on a few long walks and in the absence of a pub at the end the above makes life a bit easier.

Unfortunately my old man passed last year but as a father myself, I've been heavily hinting for a bottle of The Balvenie single malt. A good quality rum would also be acceptable. Whatever you get, don't make it socks.

Same for me for July 4th but only 5 years since she passed.
Our American office can never understand why i don't share their enthusiasm for Independence Day

Like a few others my father isn't alive any more, but my daughter likes to commemorate this day with her old dad.
We usually go out to a live show or comedy night but of course that's unlikely to be happening anytime soon.

This year I'd be more than happy with a KFC bucket and crap movie.

My dad is very practical right but less able as he gets older and with lockdown/shielding boredom I bought him a wooden model boat kit which will keep him entertained for several hundred hours (I hope). That was at the suggestion of a similar thread i started about birthday presents.

I also thought about some really good quality hand tools but he has two of everything imaginable.

For me I normally suggest that the kids and wife combine fathers day and my birthday which are reasonably close and buy me a decent kitchen knife to add to my collection. They missed the boat this year getting one custom made but then that can be another time.

I was thinking of some tools but he had a garage full and I've no idea what he might actually need and use! He doesn't have a table saw...wonder if the Aldi ones at 70 quid are any good.
