Sports cars and relationships

So today I was reading an article saying you have better chances getting into a relationship if you ditch the sports car and get a run of the mill family hatchback. That's a tricky dilemma as since I turned 20 many years ago, I have always had sports cars as an interest of mine. Not just the speed but also the appreciation of the engineering and the feeling of being part of the whole process of driving the car instead of just operating it. Yet whenever I have had a lady in the car, they have moaned about acceleration, noise, bumpy ride, uses too much fuel, you need to get rid of it etc etc... Yet it's always been tricky as I would love to be in another long term relationship but just can't face the usual moaning. Yet they know about the cars before they go out with me. I have now said to myself the car will never go. I work hard to earn the money to pay for the cars I like.

I have a westfield and a Cayman, I've had an Elise and a cobra and a skyline, I met my wife when I had an XK8.
Of course you probably won't find a breeder with those sorts of cars, but you never know.

I got out of a 997 about 6 months before the current missus. She has said point blank if I had started / dated with it, she'd have thought the worst.
However, she loves bimbling around in my 22yr old red Mx5.
Drove past a quality Magnum PI Red Ferrari Targa top 308 jobby at the weekend. She thought dire and would hate.

The irony being I drive a civic. OK its an FK2... Personally, I'd avoid both.
My wife doesn’t like cars. But she likes me enough to support my passion. The deal is I can have whatever I want as long as it is t at the expense of our family.
She has come round though, likes being seen in them. It’s kind of like an extension of fashion for her.
She did impress the other day though. Was looking at classic race cars as usual. She pipes up I thought you wanted a blue Lotus 18? Turns out she cares enough to pay attention to my endless yammering.
