Life out of lockdown

I had some admin that I had to take care of in the Netherlands, so after three months locked down in the UK travelled back to my Amsterdam home this week for a couple of days, and it’s felt like an absolute paradise.

I was able to take my team at work out for a proper night’s drinking, in a pub, then today I was out on the motorbike for a bit, sat in a cafe, and just had a wander.

I’d forgotten how good normal, everyday life is. I chatted to neighbours, went to a supermarket, and looked at a new scooter in a bike shop.

I’m back to England tomorrow, and really hope that (especially for those not able to escape like I did) that everyone sticks to the rules and we can get back to normality soon.

Presumably you will now have to self isolate for 14 days on your return?

If so that is going to be a bit of a downer.

Not the same, but i drove round last week for an hour to find a burger van on the side of the road, so i could get a sausage and egg cob and a cup of tea and eat it in a layby.

Solely because im shielding and have been locked up for 12 weeks and had, had enough.

No, not if you are returning home from work, which I am. I’ll likely not be going anywhere anyway, just like I wasn’t for the previous three months.

No, not if you are returning home from work, which I am. I’ll likely not be going anywhere anyway, just like I wasn’t for the previous three months.

That's not so bad then.

The 14 day quarantine on return has meant us cancelling our intended trip to see an elderly relative. First time in about 12 years we won't be going unless they relax the rules, and it coincides with her 90th birthday.

A friend of mine has commuted by car to Holland every week since lockdown. Goes for 3 or 4 days.
No problem at all.
If Belgium border is manned, they just tell him not to stop there!

I will take another look then, we have some European jobs coming up, and I know my boss was concerned about the quarantine restrictions.

He has papers yes. From his employer there.
Always needed that for French border control.
Plus you need to do a form now when returning I understand (to prove on business, so not self isolating on return)
