Barbour fit help

Looking at Barbour international. I’ve had Norman Barbour stuff before and the size and fit was all over the place. I understand the international fit is more true to size.
I wonder of those who have such garments, if you could give me a steer size wise?
I am 5’11” and a 42” chest. Slightly short arms possibly.
I have Rab jackets and they are all XL. Most jumpers and t shirts are xl

Would I need an xl international or a l?

International jackets seem true to size to me compared to the normal Barbour that are huge! My International is sized as 38" chest (so perhaps pre-dates the SML sizing?) and I'm roughly 39" chest so its a good fit. I'd only get away with a thin jumper underneath it to get decent freedom of movement.

I'd say go for a Large.

As shops are now beginning to open, definitely go try them on as sizes are all over the place.

I'm medium fit in clothes and the Belstaff Roadmaster I bought many years back was too big had to get it in small.
But then other Belstaff models that I have some are medium and then even large.

Granted it's not Barbour but had the same issue with them too, only way to be sure is try them on.
If you get a bigger size then the sleeves may be too long.

Be careful as some of the International stuff is more fitted and, depending on the garment there is a mixture of S/M/L and e.g. 42" sizing. I'm a 42" chest and never seem to get on with the S/M/L type sizing but for coats etc 42" fits just right. Best to try on if you can.

They have free returns so order 2 sizes and return one.
I have a quilted jacket (Ariel) in size large which fits me perfectly but is fitted and I am a 40” chest.
