Recycling and water

I've only just started recycling at home and anything that's had food in needs washing out before it goes in the bin,which got me thinking,just how much extra water are we all using as a result.
It must be a lot,good job water grows on trees

Are you sure it needs washing ?As our area doesnt require it,just needs to be in their bags.Its going to be burnt/melted anyway.

Got 1 full size bin that everything goes into so to save multiple trips outside I keep a small bin in the house which I transfer to the big bin when it's full.
I don't want the smell of rotten food in the house....even empty milk containers smell if they aren't washed out, likewise yoghurt pots
etc.
Some people even get their bins jet washed after collection !

We also have dogs and gulls they are good for scraps,for milk plastic cartons we squash and put the lids back on.I dont have a bin as such in the kitchen only a plastic bag holder(£2 ebay) when the bags full i tie it up tight and into the coal cellar/bin.This way and using the toilet theres no old decaying rubbish in the house.

Margarine tubs are the worst, they need washing repeatedly.

I don’t wash ours, it all gets taken away anyway. It will be treated at the recycling center anyway.

Our council however does expect us to arrange all our recycling into sections in the box, to apparently help speed up the sorting by the bin men. It’s hilarious. How the fk am i supposed to neatly arrrange all the cans next to the plastic in a tiny box. Might be possible for a singleton with minimal waste, but a busy family?

I must admit I do occasionally feel the need to rebel slightly until they STOP LEAVING MY WHEELIE BIN BANG IN THE MIDDLE OF MY DRIVE so I have to get out, move the bin, then park.
