My two to start will be the nicest lad you ever met school mate of my sister, venture scout, church helper, handsome, king of the Sixth Form without being arrogant, four A-levels at A, place at Cambridge, died middle of August 1986 before uni of an annuresym. Don't remember if anyone knew why.

His younger sister and three fiends died the February after in a car crash on the A6 toward Buxton one winter morn going to High Peak College.

His elder brother committed suicide in the mid 2010s despite being a stock broking millionaire. Believed he was going to lose a load of money on a deal and shot himself.

Parents moved to Ireland then and as far a I knew for nearly a decade had a quite life....until/another thread mode.

OK, on this cheery theme..

Very late 80s. Kid a few doors from me - thoroughly unpleasant character in truth. Passed his driving test, so daddy bought him a Metro. An MG Metro Turbo. I remember my dad saying something like "He'll kill himself in that." Less than a month later, he did. Police reckoned he was travelling at 80 mph when he lost control and wrapped it round a tree in a 30 limit.

When I was 14 I experienced face planting the windscreen of my dads van after being struck, head on, by a car, police estimated, doing 80 in a 30 zone.
48 years later the facial scars are hidden by a beard.
36 years ago I was working with a really nice guy, very mild, gentle character and in talking to him we realized it was his Uncle who had messed my face up.
A few weeks later the nice gentle guy got wiped out on his motorbike by someone doing 90 in a 50 zone.

Well over a decade ago. I started work at a company. There were 4 starters that day.

Within a year, 2 were dead. 1 was drugs related (he passed out in a stupor, and drowned himself in his vomit) and 1 a rta (was a passenger in a car which went for an overtake it shouldn't have)

When its your time sometimes it just is.

Though of course 1 of the above was a victim and 1 was more self inflicted.

On a similar theme back in the early 70's a 17 year old lad we worked with passed his motorbike test and his rich builder father bought him a lime green Kawasaki which he rode like an absolute idiot for about 2 months until he killed himself.

We could have pre booked his funeral for him.

The nephew of someone I used to work with years ago was killed when he lost control of his car, a Rover 200 IIRC, and smashed into a tree at over 80mph on a country road. There were 7 in the car and one walked away without a scratch.
